Be a Childs Cheerleader!

Do you have children in your school that cannot access learning due to their lack of organisation, inability to sit still or inability to start difficult tasks ? Or do you have an ever growing SEN department?

Schools and teachers play and vital role in a child’s life.  Their time under your care can be a make or break point for them. However, the demands on teachers are never ending and the workload only increases.

With SEN needs on the rise year upon year it can be hard to accommodate each and every child’s unique needs, but for these children to thrive, all parties involved in their care need to be equipped with the right tools to help them achieve and thrive.

Executive Functions are inbuilt tool that lots of children and adults develop , but for some especially those with SEN needs such as ADHD, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia and ASD there can be a deficit in these Executive Functions.

Executive Functions are a set of cognitive process that help individuals filter out distractions, prioritise tasks, set and achieve goals as well as control impulses. Without them, even if the child has a high IQ, academic achievement will be harder to obtain as the deficit will cause frustration, stress, disengagement  and loss of control. It can affect not only their work but their relationships too. Executive functions are vitally important for children and adults to thrive and  access learning.

Here at The Toolkit Therapists, we can work with specific children on a one to one basis  or for a wider understanding in your school community we can provide talks for parents and inset day training talks to help you develop your own Executive Function Toolkit.
