For Parents

A mum sitting on a bench with her 2 children

Parenting is HARD, really hard sometimes.

When your child is struggling emotionally or is ill it impacts YOU! It impacts your relationships with each other, your partner and your other children. It increases the emotional load that you carry as parents and affects your own ability to deal with things such as stress.

It can heighten anxiety, create unhealthy habits as a way of coping, it can cause depression and in some cases there is a grief process for what you thought parenting would be like. Sadness, guilt, disappointments, anger, feeling lost and unable to cope and feeling helpless are all emotions that arise when parenting. Even the thought of not enjoying parenting is actually very normal.

These are all valid emotions and importantly they can co-exist with the wonderful emotions of joy, love and pride that also arise when parenting. One does not invalidate the other.

How I can Help

I specialise in working with parents who’s parenting journey is proving a challenge for whatever reason. It could be that I also see your child in clinic or your child might not be a client of mine. We can work together on our own, with your child or with your partner or even the whole family. We will find the right combination for you.

My work covers all the emotions and problems that arise when you become a parent.
